Liz Carter joined the Foundation as president and CEO in 2015. She is a champion of journalistic excellence and oversees the Foundation’s investment in local non-profits across the country, including those in Cincinnati, home to The E.W. Scripps Company.
Carter received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Louisville and worked as a reporter for the Community Press Newspapers in Cincinnati from 1995-1999.
Battinto Batts joined the Scripps Howard Foundation in 2016, coming to Cincinnati from Hampton University where he was the assistant dean for academic affairs in the Scripps Howard School of Journalism and Communication. In addition to his work in academia, he has more than 20 years experience in journalism and public relations. As director of the journalism fund, he supports the Foundation’s journalism programs at the secondary, collegiate and professional levels.
Meredith Delaney has served as Director of Development since December 2017 and brings with her a decade of experience in fundraising and non-profit industries. She oversees charitable giving for the Scripps and Howard family members, E.W. Scripps employees, retirees and others.
Delaney received a bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the Reed College of Media at West Virginia University and a master’s degree in Communication from the University of Cincinnati.
Vickie Martin joined the Foundation team in 1998. She is the grants administrator and is responsible for accounts payable processing and tracking pledges and spending from various funds throughout the year.
She administers the Matching Gift and Volunteer Grant programs as well as serves as liaison for the National Merit and Scholarship America scholarship programs offered to children of Scripps employees.
Linda Morgan joined the Foundation as Director of Program Management in 2018. She is responsible for project planning and reporting for the Foundation’s largest initiatives.
Morgan has experience in operations management and program leadership primarily in the financial services industry. Most recently, she spent five years with the Program Management Office (PMO) for the E.W. Scripps Company where she supported large projects for several lines of business. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of Wyoming.
Lee Rose is the director of community giving for the Foundation. She is responsible for the direction and development of the Bob Scripps Community Fund of the Scripps Howard Foundation. She works closely with station leaders across the country to make community grants.
Rose has experience in management and communication as well as a passion for childhood literacy. She is dedicated to strengthening relationships with non-profit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.
She recently earned the Executive Certificate in Transformational Nonprofit Leadership from the University of Notre Dame. Rose holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northern Kentucky University and a master’s degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University.
Debbie Schneider is the executive assistant to the Foundation’s president. She has been with the Scripps Howard Foundation for 21 years. She provides secretarial and administrative support to Liz Carter and other staff members of the Foundation for its wide-ranging philanthropic mission.
From 1990-94, she was secretary and receptionist in the Scripps corporate office to the late Charles E. Scripps.
