Through hands-on opportunities to learn from the best in the industry, we ground tomorrow’s journalism leaders in time-honored values and skills, while preparing them to tell stories and reach audiences in innovative ways. We strive to engage people of many backgrounds because journalism is most effective when those who report the news reflect the people and communities they cover.

Journalism internships

Students with internship experiences are more likely to find employment upon graduation than those without, according to the National Association of Colleges and Employers. During the past decade, more than 500 students have honed their skills in newsrooms across the country, thanks to Scripps Howard internships.

The Scripps Howard Fund is partnering with the Institute for Nonprofit News to offer 25 paid internships to journalism students in 2026. Learn more about the internship program and find a link to apply here.
