CINCINNATI – The Scripps Howard Foundation, the philanthropic arm of The E.W. Scripps Company (NYSE: SSP), has named Lee Rose as its director of community investments effective Feb. 16. She will be responsible for the direction and development of the Foundation’s Greater Cincinnati Fund.
Rose has experience in management and communication as well as a commitment to community service in Northern Kentucky. She will develop and implement the strategic plans for the funds and strengthen relationships with not-for-profit organizations in the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.
“Lee has established herself as a strong leader, and she has unique talents in her abilities to build lasting relationships,” said Mike Philipps, president and CEO of the Scripps Howard Foundation. “That delicate balance between business acumen and genuine concern for the Foundation’s community programs will be of great benefit to both the Foundation and the worthwhile programs it supports.”
Rose will take on many of the responsibilities from Patty Cottingham who is retiring from the Foundation after a career that spanned nearly 20 years of helping others with the Foundation and 18 years with Scripps at the Cincinnati Post and Kentucky Post. Cottingham’s last day is Feb. 2.
Rose transitions to the Foundation after nearly seven years with Scripps. She started with the company in 2008 in corporate communications and now serves as director of human resources. Prior to Scripps, Rose was the director of communication for National Speaking of Women’s Health Foundation. From 2001-2005, she worked in communications for Fifth Third Bank.
She earned a Master of Science in management from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2006 and a Bachelor of Arts in journalism with a speech communication minor from Northern Kentucky University in 1996.
Rose serves on the Northern Kentucky University Foundation Board and the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati Board. She also volunteers for Kids Vote Northern Kentucky. She also spent a great deal of time serving the NKU Alumni Council and St. Luke Community Foundation’s Fall Gala Committee.
