WASHINGTON, D.C. – Scripps News, the national network owned by The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP), has tapped veteran journalist Jay Gray to serve as a senior national correspondent, effective Monday, April 13. Gray will be based in Dallas.

A respected storyteller with extensive domestic and international experience, Gray has covered major breaking news and events across the globe, delivering live reports for NBC News and its foreign partners. Over his 22 years as a senior national news correspondent, he appeared daily on NBC-affiliated local stations nationwide as well as on “NBC Nightly News” and “TODAY.”

“Jay has spent his career on the front lines of some of the most important stories of our time,” said Matt Simon, vice president of Scripps News. “As we broaden our national presence and strengthen our ties to local communities, Jay’s expertise and precision will be invaluable.”

“Scripps News is showing that you can deliver rigorous reporting while strengthening the bond between communities and the stories they share,” Gray said. “This role offers the opportunity to deliver coverage that informs, engages and meets the moment we’re living in.”

Gray joins a team of veteran journalists at Scripps News, including former CNN and Fox News anchor Alisyn Camerota, who joined Scripps News as a special events anchor and host of “Connected with Alisyn Camerota” last month.

Camerota and Gray will co-host a Scripps News Group special in late June to commemorate America’s 250th birthday. The celebrations will build on Scripps’ nearly 150-year legacy of advancing the First Amendment and connecting people through trusted journalism, compelling storytelling and shared cultural experiences. The special coverage will stream on Scripps News and air across every local Scripps station.

Scripps News is now available on all major streaming platforms and services, including Tablo, Samsung TV+, Roku, YouTube TV and DirecTV, on mobile with the Scripps News app and online at ScrippsNews.com.
