‘The Originals’ with Suzy Kolber and ‘Beyond the Curve’ with Sanya Richards-Ross make back-to-back debuts
ATLANTA — Scripps Sports Network, the new, free streaming television channel launched by The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) earlier this year, will premiere two new, exclusive originals tomorrow. “The Originals” with legendary sports broadcaster Suzy Kolber premieres at 8 p.m. ET, while “Beyond the Curve” with Olympic champion Sanya Richards-Ross debuts immediately following, at 9 p.m. ET.
In “The Originals,” Kolber goes deep with the icons of the sports world whose careers and lives defy easy explanation. Each episode examines the fearless mindset, pivotal moments and singular thinking that made them one of one. Must-watch guests in the show’s first season include Jesse Cole, founder of the Savannah Bananas; Lisa Salters, ESPN reporter and broadcaster; Jon Gruden, Super Bowl-winning NFL coach; Hilary Knight, Olympic gold medal-winning hockey player; Digit Murphy, a hockey coach, executive and player; Diana Flores, Mexican flag football star; Sam Rapoport, a former Canadian quarterback; and Steve Young, Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback.
“Beyond the Curve” is an intimate, evergreen conversation series where Richards-Ross explores life after gold and the power of reinvention through her one-on-one conversations with athletes, entertainers and everyday heroes navigating their second act, proving reinvention is the ultimate win. Guests include Kirk Franklin, Grammy-winning gospel artist; Thomas Q. Jones, former NFL running back, actor and entrepreneur; Jemele Hill, journalist and media personality; Swin Cash, Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer and NBA executive; Shawn Johnson East, Olympic gold medal-winning gymnast; Bomani Jones, sports journalist and commentator; and Cynthia Cooper, Basketball Hall of Fame player and coach.
“Suzy and Sanya bring a level of authenticity and curiosity that creates conversations fans can’t get anywhere else,” said Adam Harman, senior vice president of programming for Scripps. “Both series go beyond highlights and headlines to explore the people behind the accomplishments, and we’re excited to introduce them as cornerstone originals for Scripps Sports Network.”
Each series will air weekly on Tuesday, with “The Originals” set for a six-week run and “Beyond the Curve” scheduled for 10 episodes. Additionally, “Beyond the Curve” episodes will air on Bounce at a later date, with specific scheduling to be announced. Episodes of both series will also be available on the Scripps Sports YouTube channel the following day.
As audiences increasingly migrate to streaming to consume premium sports programming, Scripps launched Scripps Sports Network in March. The 24/7 free streaming channel features a lineup of live sports, encore presentations of fan-favorite sports events and exclusive, original programming led by “The Originals” and “Beyond the Curve.” Scripps Sports Network is widely available across major streaming platforms and services.
