Tim King, 43, is vice president of corporate communications and investor relations and oversees the Scripps National Spelling Bee for The E. W. Scripps Company.

After six years in political communications in Washington, D.C. and Frankfort, Ky., Tim joined Scripps for the first time in 1993 as manager of corporate communications. He left in 1997 to hold director-level corporate communications positions in Boston at Harcourt General and its 54%-owned subsidiary, The Neiman Marcus Group; and in Lexington, Ky., at Lexmark International.

Tim returned to Scripps in 2005 as director of employee communications. Since the summer of 2006, he has served as the company’s first liaison to the Scripps family.

Tim has a bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky, serves on the advisory board of the College of Communications at Eastern Kentucky University, and has guided class projects in the communications department at Georgetown (Ky.) College since 2003. He currently serves on the board of the Literacy Network of Greater Cincinnati, and has served on six education-related nonprofits since the mid-1990s.
