Dave Giles, 47, is vice president and deputy general counsel of The E. W. Scripps Company.
Dave provides counseling and advice to the corporate office and the newspaper and broadcast divisions, including matters involving the First Amendment, the FCC, the FTC, litigation, intellectual property, contracts, mergers and acquisitions, and antitrust.
In 2004, Dave joined Scripps as associate general counsel. Before joining Scripps, Dave was a litigation attorney at Baker Hostetler in Denver and Washington, D.C.
Dave began his professional career as a newspaper reporter, covering business and community issues for the Philadelphia Inquirer from 1986-89 and as a reporter on the states desk at USA Today from 1983-84.
Dave holds a bachelor's degree in Government from St. Lawrence University, a master’s degree in journalism from The University of Kansas, and a juris doctor degree from Washington & Lee University.
Dave is an active volunteer in Cincinnati, currently service on the committee of Introducing Cincinnati USA, a Cincinnati USA Chamber of Commerce group focused on assisting newcomers to the area, and is a board member of the Contemporary Dance Theater.
