Students & Educators

Experiences beyond the classroom

The Foundation helps the next generation of journalists receive the preparation they need to succeed in a fast-changing media environment. Our programs help educators teach with relevance, college students hone workplace-ready skills and high school students make informed career choices.

We’re helping journalism educators infuse entrepreneurship and social media into academic programs, preparing those interested for careers in administration, and honoring those who teach and lead the nation’s journalism and mass communication schools with excellence.

Today’s communications students are preparing for careers in a myriad of media professions - and jobs in communication, information and digital technology that haven’t been created yet. Our internship program, competitions, scholarships and fellowships are preparing students to lead this evolution.

Our programs welcome high school students interested in knowing more about the communications profession. Whether they want to test the water or plunge head first into a career track, the programs we support help students make informed decisions about their future.

Students from around the world are learning the foundations of reporting in an open society and shaping the future of global journalism through the Scripps Howard Foundation's support of Columbia University fellowships and the International Center for Journalists.
