Professional Development

You bring the courage, the curiosity, the creativity. We’ll provide the encouragement, training and development to take you where you want to go with Scripps.

Leadership Challenge is a global campaign to liberate the leader in everyone. We believe that teams, businesses - and even the world - get better when ordinary people enable those around them to achieve extraordinary things. Scripps incorporates elements of the program into a leadership program for all employees.

Leadership Champions came out of the Leadership Challenge as an opportunity for individuals to develop and execute activities for their colleagues at their locations to learn about and practice the principles of the Leadership Challenge.

Key Talent is about investing in people and helping them go from good to great. Whether it’s an entrepreneurial spirit, a knack for strong relationships, or an innate ability to anticipate consumer behaviors, employees who thrive in this program unlock their potential to establish themselves as the company’s future leaders.

Journalism Career Program places recent college graduates at a Scripps television station for six-month positions. At the end of the six-month period, they have the opportunity to be hired for a permanent position at that station or another Scripps station. The program is active at KSHB in Kansas City, Missouri (University of Missouri School of Journalism), KERO in Bakersfield, California (Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University), and WKBW in Buffalo, New York (SI Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University).
